Under his leadership the hospital has expanded specialist services, strengthened postgraduate medical training, and deepened its role as the primary tertiary referral centre for the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

UPTH operates under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in partnership with the University of Port Harcourt governing authorities. The hospital was established by the Federal Government to serve as the clinical arm of the University of Port Harcourt College of Health Sciences and to provide specialist healthcare for the Niger Delta region.

Discharge Policy

Discharge is authorised by the attending consultant physician in consultation with the patient and family. A discharge summary detailing diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up instructions is issued to every patient.

Hours & Holidays

General Outpatient: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4 PM. Emergency, ICU, SCBU, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Maternity services operate 24 hours, 7 days a week.
